Sens is crossed by two rivers (Yonne and Vanne), as Vanne empties into Yonne here. Sens is popular for its 12th-century cathedral (Cathedrale Saint-Etienne de Sens/1135-1534 completed) where in 1234 were married Louis IX (1214-70, aka Saint Louis, King of France between 1226-1270) and Marguerite of Provence (1221-95). Other popular tourist attractions include the Archbishops' Palace (mid-14th-century complex, also housing the Musees de Sens museum, a hotel, large courtyard), Eglise Saint-Maurice de Sens (12th-century church), Eglise Saint-Pierre-le-Rond de Sens (13th-century church), Maison d'Abraham (half-timbered 16th-century house).
