Sharm el Sheikh is a Red Sea port and holiday resort city in Egypt, located on Sinai Peninsula's southern tip), with population around 73,000.

Under the name Ofira, the town was established as Israeli settlement during Israeli occupation of Egypt (1967-1982). Among its residents, the city name is usually shortened to "Sharm".

Sharm el Sheikh Port (locode EGSSH) was a major harbor port serving the commercial shipping industry. Until 1982, it was just military port. As a civilian port, its development started in the mid-1980s, when the Bay became the city's main Marina (yacht) and seaport.

On June 12, 2024, in Cairo, AD Ports Group (2006-founded as ADPC/Abu Dhabi Ports Company, Abu Dhabi UAE-based company specializing in the development and management of seaports) signed with Egypt's RSPA (Red Sea Ports Authority) a 15-year concession agreement (through 2040) for the development/operation/management of three cruise terminals (in Sharm El Sheikh, Safaga, Hurghada). By the deal, the three facilities would be upgraded and operational in 2025. By the concession deal, AD Ports Group will US$4,7 million (over the next 15 years), provide new services, enhance access for cruise shipping companies, and introduce new itineraries.

Also in 2024, AD Ports Group and SCZONE (Suez Canal Economic Zone) signed two 30-year concession agreements for a Ro-Ro ship terminal and a cruise ship terminal in Port Sokhna.
