Siglufjordur is a small fishing town located on Iceland's northern coast, with population around 1200. The town is foumos for its Herring Era Museum (opened in 1994) themed on the region's herring industry.

Local ecomony is largely based on fishing industries. The only road connection (opened year-round) is Strákar Tunnel (completed in 1967). The nearest airport with regularly scheduled flights is in Akureyri (at approx 1 hour drive distance).

2018 was a record season when the cruise port handled 42 ship calls and around 7100, which means it is visited mainly by small-sized luxury boats.

Siglufjordur cruise terminal

Smaller cruise ships dock in Siglufjordur at Baejarbryggja (port's main pier) with length 220 m (720 ft). Larger vessels anchor in the fjord and their passsengers are transported ashore via the ship's tender boats.
