Somerset Island is an uninhabited island in Nunavut (Canada's Arctic Archipelago). The island is located between Prince Regent Inlet (across which is Baffin Island) and Peel Sound (across which is Prince of Wales Island). Approx 13 km (8 mi) to the northeast is Prince Leopold Island.

The island covers a total area of 9570 mi2 (24800 km2), ranking it the world's 46th and Canada's 12th largest.

The tourism establishment Arctic Watch Lodge was built in 1992. It was founded at Cunningham Inlet due to the large number of beluga whales congregating there in the summer months. The establishment is operated by Josee Auclair and Richard Weber.

Usually, cruise ships visit Somerset Island while passing through Bellot Strait (southeastern Somerset) which separates the island from Boothia Peninsula (mainland Nunavut Canada). Bellot Strait has length 16 mi / 25 km and max-width 1,2 mi / 2 km.

Next photo shows Fort Ross (on Somerset's southeastern coast) where some vessels may anchor (off the coast) and transport their passengers via the ship's tender boats or Zodiacs (large-capacity inflatable boats).

Some ships may also stop at Port Leopold (on the island's northeastern tip).
