St Georges is Grenada's capital and main port. Its horseshoe-shaped harbour is surrounded by a hillside of an extinct volcano crater.

St George's Grenada is a popular Caribbean cruise ship vacation destination. The cruise port is managed by "Grenada Ports Authority" (controlled by the country's Minister of Finance). Its initiatives and investments over the years hugely increased the country's potential for cargoship handling and cruise ship tourism. The port authority is responsible for all operations in Port St George's, as well as in Prickly Bay, Grenville, St David's Harbour (all three on Grenada Island) and also in Tyrrel Bay (on Carriacou Island).

Grenada's capital has population around 35,000. Here is also the country's airport (Maurice Bishop International Airport). The city's main businesses are tourism and export (nutmeg, mace spice, cocoa bean cacao). The climate is moderate tropical, ensuring the success of spice production.

The Spicemas Carnival takes place in St George's each year, held in the second week in August. The festival celebrates slaves' emancipation and features a wealth of themes, costumes, calypso queens, calypso steel band music, parade through the streets.

Port's first-ever double ship day was December 15, 2018, when here berthed simultaneously the 4400-passenger MSC Preziosa (MSC) and the 3600-passenger Celebrity Reflection (Celebrity).

St Georges Grenada cruise terminal

Larger cruise ships in Grenada dock at Melville Street Cruise Terminal. After docking at the new pier, disembarked passengers exit through Esplanade Shopping Mall and directly to the downtown.

Smaller cruise vessels dock at the city's Inner Harbour. Their passengers disembark onto The Carenage waterfront. During busy days (with more than 3 ships visiting at a time) the extra ships are anchord near the city and their passengers are transported to the harbor via tender boats.
