Staniel Cay is an island in The Bahamas' Exumas archipelago. The island is located approx 120 km (75 mi) south of the country's capital Nassau (New Providence Island) and approx 400 km (250 mi) southeast of the USA (Florida). The island has land area approx 5 km2 (2 mi2) and population around 200 (full-time residents).
As infrastructure, Staniel Cay has one settlement (1783-established, on the western coast) with residential houses (also offering accommodations for tourists), restaurants, shops, a police station, a post office, a church (Mount Olivet Baptist), library.
The island became popular in 1956 when was inaugurated Staniel Cay Yacht Club.
Staniel Cay was featured in two movies of the James Bond series - Thunderball (1965) and Never Say Never Again (1983), both starring Sean Connery.
Staniel Cay Airport serves regularly scheduled flights linking with Nassau (by Flamingo Air) and also charter flights linking with the USA (Fort Lauderdale's Executive Airport) by the operator Makers Air. The island is marked by tropical climate (average temperature 30C / 86F), forest vegetation (mangroves, palm trees), flora (sugar cane, tamarind), fauna (Bahamian Pigs, Anolis /iguanian lizards), marine life (sharks, barracuda, angelfish, parrotfish, yellowtail snappers, butterflyfish, groupers, lobsters, daredevil shrimp, coral reef species).
As cruise port, Staniel Cay was for the first time included in the 2022 schedule of the superyacht SeaDream 2.

Traditionally for The Bahamas, Staniel Cay's economy is heavily based on tourism - mainly yachting (Staniel Cay Yacht Club, Staniel Cay Sailing Club) and sport fishing (Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park).
For tourists are organized beach activities like snorkeling, scuba diving, boating, sea kayaking, guided tours (including to the Thunderball Grotto, of the island's many limestone caves), swimming with pigs.
