Sulina is a Danube River cruise port, free port and town in Tulcea County (Romania), with population around 4,000. Sulina is Romania's easternmost point.

During the 14th-century, the town (port of Republic of Genoa / 1005-1815) was inhabited by a small number of fishermen, sailors and pirates. In 18th century, during Ottoman Empire (1299-1919) was constructed a lighthouse to serve communications between the empire's Danubian Principalities and Istanbul. In the early-19th-century, Sulina became under the control of Russian Empire (1721-1917).

Greater development occurred after the signing the Treaty of Paris (1856), which ended the Crimean War (1853-56). One of treaty’s terms determined the establishment of Danube European Committee, to conduct infrastructure works on Danube's mouth in order to make it floatable for larger ships.

Popular tourist sites in Sulina include Sf  Nicolae Church, Lighthouse, Cemetery, Danube flowing into the Black Sea and forming Europe's biggest and best-preserved delta. Danube Delta hosts more than 300 species of birds and 45 freshwater fish species in numerous marshes and lakes.
