Sekondi-Takoradi is an Atlantic Ocean port city in Ghana, with population around 450,000. It is the capital of Sekondi-Takoradi Metro and Ghana's Western Region. This is the region's largest and a major industrial and commercial seaport.

Since April 2023, Port Takoradi (locode GHTKD) is managed by YILPORT Holding Inc (2011-founded, part of Yıldırım Group). Via fully owned subsidiaries, YILPORT manages businesses like seaport and container terminal management, shipping, shipbuilding, metals and ore mining, coal trading, production of fertilizers. YILDIRIM Group (1963-founded, family-owned) is a Turkey-based global industrial holding that has among its assets AlbChrome Ltd (1948-founded Albanian company) specializing in chrome and ferrochrome production. The agreement for the concession of Port Takoradi by YILPORT was signed in Istanbul on January 11, 2023.

The Port is currently managed by the joint venture YILPORT Takoradi Port Management Company (70% YILPORT + 30+ Ibis Tek). The joint venture planned future investments in developing the existing container ship terminal (to increase its annual TEU-container capacity to 2,25 million), dredging (deepening the harbor to max draft 16,5 m / 55 ft), expanding the total berth length (to 2,5 km / 1,5 mi) and also in developing new multipurpose berths (serving cargo ships carrying liquid, bulk, and general cargos) with combined annual capacity ~20 million tons.

YILPORT's investments in Takoradi (USD 700+ million in total) are also in infrastructure projects, including new port access roads and gates, in order to avoid traffic congestion and increase the handling capacity. Also will be expanded the Tacotel Inland Terminal (~2 km / 1 mi from the Port) and the Marshall Oil Terminal. A new tank farm will be built with annual capacity ~2,5 million tons of liquid products. With the deal, Port Takoradi became YILPORT's 23rd cargo terminal and its first in Africa.

Takoradi City's main industries include cocoa processing, timber, plywood, harbour (trade, shipping), railway repair, shipbuilding, petroleum (crude and sweet crude oil). Sekondi-Takoradi is on the railway lines to Accra and Kumasi.

The city is currently officially named Ghana's Oil City after the discovery of huge oil reserves in its western region. In 2010, of nearly 250,000 inhabitants in Sekondi-Takoradi metro area, only 92,000 were born in Ghana's Western Region. 60,000 came from country's central region, 20,000 from Ashanti region (Kumasi), 20,000 were born in Greater Accra Region.

Takoradi attracts many international investors (including miners) as the city is near the mining towns in Ghana's western part.

Sekondi-Takoradi features numerous beaches (mainly to the west of Takoradi), small resorts (including Fanta's Folly, Green Turtle Lodge, The Hideout), large resorts (Axim Beach, Busua Beach, Lou Moon Lodge), annual street carnival.
