Tant Kyi Taung is an Irrawaddy) River cruise port (on Bagan's other side) in Pakokku District (Magway Division, Myanmar / Burma). Tantkyi Taung Pagoda was created by King Anawrahta in 1059 AD. This is a prominent Buddhist pagoda located close to historic Bagan City, believed to have up 4 tooth relics of Gautama Buddha.
Built on Tant Kyi Hill, Tantkyitaung Pagoda is 90 ft (27 m) high with base 60 ft (18 m). It has an image of Buddha, statue of Ananda and a forest guardian. A look down from the Pagoda platform reveals a dragon head protruding from the wall. It is thought that the tail end of the likeness of dragon is around the Shwezigon Pagoda site.
There are 32 elephant statues made in various directions at the base of Tantkyi Taung Pagoda. The base is an octagonal shaped platform and on it the pagoda resides. Plenty of years passed by but the pagoda is still maintained. It takes about half a day to travel and see this place. There are ferries that carry visitors across Ayeyarwaddy river, every early morning.
