Tarascon-sur-Rhone is a Rhone River cruise port and town in France's Bouches-du-Rhone department. It is located approx 23 km (14 ml) south of Avignon and approx 20 km (12 ml) north of Arles.

According to legend, Martha of Bethany (Sainte-Marthe, from Bible's gospels of Luke and John) landed here and tamed a water dragon that was destroying the shipping traffic. Sadly, she was butchered by the locals. Many pilgrims come to see Royal College created in her honour. Her sanctuary is city's main monument, with relics and her tomb (crypt built on the location of her house).

Tarascon has 3 still remaining city gates. Other popular tourist attractions are King Rene castle (located on the river bank, opposite Chateau de Beaucaire), Old Town Hall, Frigolet Abbey, Cloitre des Cordeliers, Saint-Jacques church.
