Torbay is a port borough in Devon (Devonshire, England) with total area approx 63 km2 (24 ml2, including the resort towns Brixham, Paignton and Torquay) and population around 130,000. The borough is around east-facing natural harbour (Tor Bay) on English Channel and is roughly equidistant from Plymouth and Exeter. Torbay UK is not to be mistaken with Torbay WA (Western Australia), Torbay NL (Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada) or Torbay NZ (New Zealand, a suburb of Auckland City).

A popular tourist travel destination in UK, Torbay (nicknamed "English Riviera") attracts vacationers with its resorts, mild climate, sandy beaches, recreational and leisure activities. The main industry is tourism. The fishing port Brixham shelters one of Wales' and England's most efficient fishing fleets. It is also the base for Torbay Lifeboat Station and Her Majesty's Coastguard.

Because of the region's mild climate, palm trees are common along the coast. However, the 'palm' is actually a lily (Cordyline australis), that originates from New Zealand - where is known as cabbage tree. These trees also flourish elsewhere in the UK.
