Tournon-sur-Rhone and Tain-l'Hermitage are a double Rhone River cruise port and towns in Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region (southern France). Tournon (Ardeche department, population around 11,000) is located on the river's right bank and opposite Tain-l'Hermitage (Drome department, population around 6,000).
Cruise ships to Tain-l'Hermitage dock in Tournon-sur-Rhone. Passengers access Tain-l'Hermitage via Passerelle Marc-Seguin (a footbridge across Rhone River) linking both towns.
Tain-l'Hermitage is a notable wine-producing town, with signature red wine labels Hermitage AOC, Crozes-Hermitage AOC and Cornas AOC. The town is best-known for the Cite du Chocolat Valrhona (chocolate factory with shop) and its numerous wineries, the largest of which are Maison Chapoutier, Caves de Tain, Paul Jaboulet Aine. Several wineries offer tastings of Hermitage-made wines.
Popular tourist attractions in Tournon include Chateau de Ventadour (castle ruins), Pont Grand (Great Bridge spanning 49 m / 160 ft), City Hall (former Carmelite convent). Tournon is best-known for its recreational vehicles manufacturing at the Trigano VDL factory. Annually, over 4,000 caravans (by the brands Caravelair, and Sterckeman) and nearly 7,000 motorhomes (Chausson brand) are produced there.
