Trujillo is a Caribbean port town in Honduras and Colon department's capital, with population around 65,000. The town is on a bluff overlooking Bay of Trujillo, with two mountains rising behind - Calentura and Capiro. Along the beach are also located three fishing villages - San Antonio, Guadelupe and Santa Fe.

Trujillo was historically popular for its cattle industry. Most of the raised here cattle was not exported but retained for use by Hondurans.

The location was discovered by Christopher Columbus (1451-1506) in 1502, during his final voyage to the Americas. He named it "Punta de Caxinas". Noticing that the surrounding waters were very deep, he named the area Golfo de Honduras (Gulf of the Depths). In 1860, the mercenary William Walker (1824-1860) was caught and executed in Trujillo. His tomb is a tourist attraction.
