Vallejo is a San Pablo Bay port and city in California USA (Solano County) and by population (around 130,000) is ranked North Bay's second-largest (following Santa Rosa). Vallejo is approx 30 mi / 50 km to the north-northeast from San Francisco (road distance, via highway I-80 W). Vallejo borders Benicia (to the east), the Carquinez Strait (south) and San Pablo Bay (west).

Port Vallejo (locode USVLO) is on San Pablo Bay (part of San Francisco Bay) and Napa River flows into the Bay through Mare Island Strait. The Port also houses two premium boating facilities - Vallejo Yacht Harbor, and Vallejo Municipal Marina. The Port serves predominantly cargo ships (bulk carriers and crude oil tankers), as well as passenger ships, including pleasure craft and daily scheduled ferries (serving the route Mare Island-Vallejo-Downtown San Francisco).

As cruise port, Vallejo CA was included in the 2023 schedule of the USA's largest cruise company - ACL-American Cruise Lines.

Next table shows ACL's 7-night/8-day "San Francisco Bay Cruise" itinerary introduced in 2023 on the American Jazz ship.

ACL's San Francisco Bay Cruise itinerary features scenic cruising in San Francisco Bay and San Pablo Bay (an evening stop in Vallejo), as well as cruising on the Napa River and San Joaquin River. The San Francisco Bay cruise includes passing the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and Treasure Island. A guided San Francisco city tour visits Ghirardelli Square and Fisherman's Wharf. The cruisetour's signature experiences also include NASCAR-style driving (at Stockton 99 Speedway) and visiting a Napa Valley Winery (wine-tasting excursion). A guided Old Sacramento tour visits the underground city, the port, and the California State Railroad Museum.

The town was established in the mid-19th-century (1851-founded, 1868-incorporated) and served as California's capital city in 1852-53. The city's economy was heavily based on the Mare Island Naval Shipyard (1854-1996), which was the US Navy's first base on the Pacific Ocean. The naval base was the city's largest employer (~50,000 workers) and specialized in building, repairs, overhauls, and regular/general maintenance works on different kinds of warships (heavy cruisers, destroyers, tankers) and submarines.

The current-day city's economy is largely based on trade (being one of North Bay's hubs and Solano County's principal port), healthcare (Kaiser, Sutter Solano) and the Port's cargo shipping-related businesses.
