Other popular attractions in Vientiane or in close proximity to the city include the Buddha Park (1958-opened, with numerous Buddhist and Hindu sculptures), Lao National Museum (1925-built during French colonial rule as the governor's residence), Kaysone Phomvihane Museum (1995-opened), the That Dam stupa, the Wat Ong Teu Mahawihan (16th-century Buddhist monastery), Wat Sri Chomphu Ong Tue (16th-century temple), Wat Si Saket (19th-century temple), Wat Sok Pa Luang (temple), Settha Palace Hotel (1932-opened boutique hotel), Talat Sao (two-story-high covered market), the Sanjiang Market.
The city is served by the Wattay Airport, with regularly scheduled flights connecting to destinations in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Thailand (Bangkok), Cambodia (Phnom Penh), Myanmar (Yangon), Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang), South Korea (Busan, Incheon-Seul, Cheongju), Japan, China (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Haikou, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Kunming, Nanning, Lanzhou, Xian, Jinghong, Wenzhou), and Singapore.
