Vilshofen an der Donau is a Danube River cruise port and town in Germany's Bavaria state (Passau district) with population around 18,000. The town is located at the entrance to Lower Bavarian-Upper Austrian Danube gorge (from the west), where three rivers (Pfudrach, Vils, Wolfach) flow into the Danube.

Wedged in tightly at water's edge, Old Town's closely-built houses stand out on a pointed piece of the headland (between Danube and Vils rivers), giving the impression of a floating island. Bendictine abbey Schweiklberg's twin towers are among the town's signature landmarks. Popular tourist attractions include Maria Hilf church, Africa museum (Schweiklberg abbey), building formed as Greek cross, St Barbara church (15th century), lookout tower (town's landmark, with gallery), Schweiklberg abbey (with shop), Hausbach church (circular, town's oldest building - from 1060 AD), waterfront promenade (on Danube) with landings for cruise ships.
