Visegrad is a Danube River cruise port and small town in Hungary, wit hpopulation around 2,000. The town is located north of Budapest (country's capital) and is famous for the residence palace of King Matthias Corvinus (1443-1490) and Fellegvar (medieval citadel).

In 1325, King Charles I of Hungary (1288-1342) moved here country's royal seat. In 1335, here was hosted a 2-month congress with the kings of Bohemia and Poland, which resulted creating a peace between the three kingdoms and forming the Poland-Hungary alliance against Austria. The town loast its political importance after 1408, when the royal seat was moved to Buda. Visegrád received its town status in 2000.
