Warrenpoint is a port town in Northern Ireland's County Down, wit population around 9,000. The port is at Carlingford Lough (sea inlet south of Newry City. A narrow strait separates Warrenpoint from Ireland.
Regularly scheduled daily cruiseferry connections link Warrenpoint to the nearby Narrow Water Castle (16th-century) and with Omeath (County Louth). Mini-cruises from Warrenpoint visit Rostrevor's Ross Monument.
By annual shipping volumes, Port Warrenpoint Harbour (locode GBWPT) is ranked Northern Ireland's second-largest - after Belfast Harbour. Seatruck Ferries connect Warrenpoint with Heysham (Lancashire England UK).
The town is best known for hosting two popular annual festivals (Maiden of Mourne, and Blues on the Bay) and leisure and vacation activities, including recreational fishing (at the two inland lakes - Waterworks, and Mill Dam).
As cruise port, Warrenpoint is visited only by smaller-sized expedition ships and superyachts, from the fleets of ultra-luxury travel brands like Azamara and Mystic-Nicko.
