Zakynthos Island (aka Zante) is located in Ionian Sea and is ranked Ionian Islands' 3rd largest, with land area approx 406 km2 (157 mi2), coastline length approx 123 km (76 mi) and population around 40,000.

The island is named after Greek mythology's Zakynthos - son of the Arcadian chief Dardanus. The island is a very popular Greek tourism travel destination, served by an international airport located close to Kalamaki (beach town). The airport links the island to most large cities in Europe and also to Russia (Moscow, St Petersburg) and UK (London, Bristol, Liverpool, Manchester).

Island's most famous landmark is Navagio beach - a cove on the northwestern coast isolated by high cliffs. Navagio is accessible only by boat. The beach is made of pebbles and surrounded by crystal-clear waters. The area from Anafonitria features a small observation deck overlooking the shipwreck of MV Panagiotis (sunk in 1980) and a nearby monastery. The unique location is very popular among BASE jumpers (parachuting and wingsuit flying) and a major event held annually (August).

Numerous natural "Blue Caves", cut into cliffs near Cape Skinari, and are accessible only by boats. In the far south is Keri - a mountain village with a lighthouse. The whole western coast to Skinari features interesting rock formations and arches.
