Athos barge Review
Review of Athos barge
MS Athos barge is a luxury hotel barge (cruise ship) launched in 1964 as a cargo barge for drybulk shipping (mainly grain and sand). In 1982, the vessel was drydock converted into a 10-passenger ship in 2011 owned by Dannielle and Julian Farrant. The boat is also operated under charter by European Waterways for cruises on Canal du Midi (southwestern France) between homeports Toulouse and Sete.
The ship is mastered by a Captain-Pilot assisted by a professional crew of 4 (2 housekeeping-serving staff, 1 tour guide, 1 Chef). This hotel barge is fully air-conditioned (throughout), has a spacious sun deck (with shaded seating) and offers complimentary bicycles (offered for shoreside biking). The 5 staterooms are in either twin or double bed (Queen-size) configurations and with en-suite bathrooms. The traditionally decorated saloon (bar lounge) has a separate dining area.
