Belmond Amaryllis barge Review

Review of Belmond Amaryllis barge

Starting with a Dutch hull built in 1962, in 2001 the 8-passenger Belmond Amaryllis was converted into a hotel barge. Currently, the barge cruise ship offers itineraries in Burgundy around Dijon, and also on River Saone and Canal de Bourgogne (central-eastern France). This Belmond cruise ship is only available to families or groups wishing to charter the whole vessel.

Like her fleet mates, Belmond Amaryllis barge cruise deals are all-inclusive. Boat charter prices are inclusive of all meals, soft drinks, wines, beer, liquor, liqueurs, bottled water, as well as all excursions and guided tours ashore. A VW mini-bus follows the barge's itinerary route and is available for passenger transportation on daily tours at designated times. Typical shore trips include wine tastings in the Burgundy's wine capital Beaune and tour of Chateau de Germolles (Dukes of Burgundy's residence palace).

There are 4 suites available aboard Belmond Amaryllis. All staterooms are decorated in traditional style and complemented by tables from Li Puma of Florence. Cabins' window casings were specially designed and incorporate large windows framing the passing countryside. The sun deck features a small heated swimming pool and loungers. The ship also carries 8 complimentary bicycles (for passenger use along the itinerary route). The barge has a crew of 6 - the Captain, chef, tour guide, sailor, two hosts.
