MS River Rhapsody cruise ship entered service in 1999 under the name "MS Chubasco XFE". The vessel (ENI number 07001722) joined the GCCL-Grand Circle Cruise Line fleet in 2007 when was renamed to "River Rhapsody". The shipowner is Grand Circle Corporation via its subsidiary company Grand Circle Travel USA (Boston MA-headquartered travel agency).
Sisterships are the same-designed VistaBelle (2000/Viking Burgundy), Crucestar (2000/Viking Rhone), River Harmony (1999), MS Vivienne (2001/River Concerto), MS Aurora (1999-built/2020-refitted, MMSI 244660956, ENI 02002173).
The vessel is Malta-flagged (MMSI 256894000, registered in Valletta), with max passenger capacity 140 (plus 34 crew/staff), 4 decks (3 with cabins) and 70 staterooms (equally sized 15 m2 / 160 ft2).
