MS Switzerland II is an elegant river cruise ship, full of character and style. Offering 4-star accommodations, guests can relax among its attractive interiors and enjoy an intimate environment plus excellent service delivered by the professional crew. The riverboat is often booked as Hotel Ship for business conferences and private parties. The sistership is MS Switzerland (built 1988).
Cabins
MS Switzerland 2 staterooms on Emerald Deck are accessible via stairway. Standard cabins are equally sized (13 m2) and with 2 twin beds (L-shape configuration). The riverboat also has four Mini Suites sized 16 m2 on Emerald Deck midship-starboard, and 17 m2 on Ruby Deck aft) and four Window Suites. Mini Suites are with double bed and sitting area (3-seater sofa). Suites (on Ruby Deck) are sized 20-21 m2 and offer as extra amenities sitting area (2 armchairs, coffee table), larger TV, DVD player, King-size bed, two windows. Two single cabins (aft-starboard on Emerald Deck) can be booked with single occupancy. They are smaller (11 m2) and adjacent to ship's aft staircase.
All passenger cabins offer as standard amenities partially opening window (with sliding down upper section), individually controlled air-conditioning, en-suite bathroom (wash basin, WC, shower, hairdryer), minibar (refrigerator stocked with beverages), flat TV (satellite reception, ship info channel, real-time bow camera views), phone (onboard calls only - Reception Desk, passenger cabins), alarm clock radio, mirrored dressing table (writing desk) with chair, wardrobe, electronic safe box (in the closet), several 220V power sockets.
Shipboard facilities
MS Switzerland 2 has 3 passenger decks, complimentary Panorama Restaurant (5-star dining room, also accessible via stairlift through Ruby Deck), lobby area on Emerald Deck (ship entrances, 24-hour Reception Desk, Tour Office), Panorama Salon-Bar (main lounge with dance floor), Boutique Shop (selling souvenirs, clothing, jewelry, cosmetics, toiletries, sweets), Library (reading lounge with books, DVDs, puzzles, board games), Sun Deck (with retractable awning, 4-seat tables, deckchairs, sunloungers, table tennis). Laundry service, wireless (WLAN) connections and Internet are available at extra cost. Smoking is permitted only at the designated area on Sun Deck.
A stairlift links decks Ruby and Sun, as well as the Restaurant (Emerald Deck) with the Lounge (Ruby Deck). Two staircases (forward and aft) connect all decks.
Onboard dining is complimentary, fixed (with assigned seating) and includes buffet breakfasts and waiter served 4-course lunches and dinners with themed menus and local (cruise itinerary-based) cuisine specialties. Main course for dinner is selected at noon, from an a la carte menu. All meals are served in common dining times. Dishes for special diets (gluten-free, lactose-free, diabetics, etc) are provided upon request. Special dietary requirements, food allergies and intolerances must be notified in advance.
Afternoon tea, coffee and midnight snacks are also complimentary. Beers, house wines, soft drinks (mineral water, juices), tea and coffee are complimentary. The traditional Captain's Reception and Captain's Dinner are formal events held in the Restaurant.
Onboard entertainment (in the Bar Lounge) includes live music performances, crew show, playing cards and board games, evening dance parties. Shore excursions are offered at additional cost in every port of call along the cruisetour itinerary. At each stop are complimentary provided maps and tour guide explanations.
