Moby Zaza ferry Wiki

The ship entered service in May 1982 (for Olau Line, under the name "Olau Britannia") and was deployed on the England-Holland route Sheerness-Vlissingen. The vessel was constructed by Schichau Seebeckwerft (in Bremerhaven, Germany), under hull/yard number 1031. The powerplant is based on Wartisila marine diesel engines (model 8PC2-5L-400) with total power output 15,3 MW.

In May 1990, the ship was sold to Fred Olsen Lines, renamed "MS Bayard" and put on Norway-Denmark service (Kristiansand-Hirtshals, Oslo-Hirtshals). In January 1991, COLOR LINE acquired Fred Olsen and the ferry was renamed "Christian IV".

In July 2008, the ship was sold to Stella Lines, renamed "MS Julia" and put on the Finland-Russia route Helsinki-St Petersburg. Following a 2-month service, the vessel was laid up until 2009 when was sold to Fastnet Line. In 2010 started operations on the UK Wales-Ireland route Swansea-Cork.

In January 2017, Moby Lines signed a contract with Wartsila to provide new diesel engines for Moby Zaza. Moby contracted Wartsila for repowering the fleet mates Moby Corse and Moby Kiss. Wartsila Marine's equipment included 4 new auxiliary diesel generator sets (with automatic voltage regulators), seawater cooling systems (complete circuit), exhaust gas silencers, fuel systems.

The vessel was Bermuda-flagged (MMSI 310582000) but in 2020 its flag-state was changed to Italy (MMSI 230637000).
