RV Jahan Review
Review of RV Jahan
The 2010-built RV Jahan cruise ship is owned by Heritage Line and operated by its subsidiary company (and brand) Jahan Cruises. The riverboat is currently chartered by the cruise line National Geographic Lindblad Expeditions as one of the top-rated boutique-style Mekong River cruise boats. In the Heritage Line fleet, sisterships of RV Jahan are the boats RV Jayavarman (aka Mekong Explorer, 2009-built), RV Anawrahta (2015) and RV Anouvong (2019).
History - construction and ownership
The 50-passenger ship RV Jahan was named after Shah Jahan - an Indian emperor who ruled the Mughal Empire from 1628 to 1658. Shah Jahan was a great patron of architecture and arts. He oversaw the construction of plenty of legendary sites, including the dazzling Red Fort in India, and the famous 777 gardens of Kashmir.
Cruise itinerary program
RV Jahan's itinerary program is based on 7-night Mekong River cruises leaving out of Saigon (Ho Chi Minh) and Siem Reap.
Cabins
Designed in the style of old colonial liners, the Jahan ship offers 26 luxurious cabins featuring queen sized beds, floor to ceiling windows, and a private balcony and bathroom. The riverboat boasts the largest balcony staterooms (30-50m2) on Indochina's waterways.
Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks
Nat Geo RV Jahan has one Main Dining Room with unassigned tables. The restaurant serves Western and regional cuisine inspired by ports of call. All meals are served single seating. Breakfast and lunch are buffet-style. As for dinner passengers have the option of either buffet or set menu. Passengers can learn the culinary highlights of Khmer-Vietnamese cuisine at the onboard cooking workshop.
Shipboard entertainment options - Fun and Sport
Common areas onboard r.v. Jahan include a bar and lounge, observatory, boutique, WiFi-equipped library; as well as a pool deck, spa, and gym.
The Bar and Lounge is the place where pre-dinner cocktails, lectures, briefings, movie nights and documentaries are presented. It also features tasting workshops - coffee, tea, spirits and all kinds of fruit. Each morning Tai Chi classes are offered on the Sun Deck.
