RV Strand Review
Review of RV Strand
RV Strand cruiser is a ship fully owned and operated by the owners of the Strand Hotel in Yangon (Rangoon), Myanmar. This top-luxury riverboat cruises on Irrawaddy River, exclusively in Burma. Itineraries are 3-night downstream (from Mandalay to Bagan) and 4-night upstream (the reverse route from Bagan to Mandalay) with scheduled departures July through April.
The Strand ship offers a reinvention of the unique personality and wonderful style of Strand Hotel within a contemporary cruise experience. The vessel was purpose-built in Yangon and features shallow draft, an elegant interior (flooded with natural light from the floor-ceiling windows), staterooms and suites with luxurious appointments. The boat's unique design features a mixture of Oriental influences and colonial accents. A semi-circular teak staircase connects all passenger decks. The vessel has the latest technology including satellite Wi-Fi and individually controlled air conditioning throughout. A signature feature is the sundeck's swimming pool.
All tours and excursions are fairly leisure, taking account of the Irrawaddy cruising season's high temperatures. Cold towels and bottled water are freely available. The Champagne dinner offered on a sandbank in the middle of the river is one of the Strand Cruise unique travel experiences - not available on bigger ships sailing the river.
Note: You can see the CruiseMapper's list of all river cruise ships and riverboats in the "itinerary" section of our River Cruises hub. All companies and their fleets are listed there.
