Ros Crana barge Review
Review of Ros Crana barge
Ros Crana barge was purchased in January 2012 by the UK travel company Caledonian Discovery. The former freight barge vessel was converted to a hotel barge in May 2013. The ship has a max capacity of 12 passengers plus 6 crew members. It features a deck level galley (kitchen), dining area (with outside viewing), and down below is the large saloon (bar lounge) area with opening windows and comfortable seating.
Cabins
A total of 6 cabins are available on the Ros Crana ship, each with a large lower bed plus a standard bed above. All staterooms have a heated towel rail, radiator, good storage, and large opening window. Towels and bed linens are also provided. SIn-cabin showers are powerful, with plenty of hot water.
Shipboard facilities
This riverboat has regularly sized steps down from the deck into the ship at both ends. These offer good handrails and the crew is used to helping passengers up and down. However, the boat is not wheelchair accessible. When anchored, access to and from shore is by a smaller RIB support boat (accessed via a short ladder from the deck). The barge also has a ramp (at each end of the cabin passage) and single steps up into the en-suite and the shower. Passengers must be fit enough to climb a small ladder for safety regulations so that they can evacuate if a fire or other emergency events happen.
Ros Crana's cruise itinerary offers departures from Fort William (Highlands, Scotland) and sailing on popular Scottish Glens (sea lakes) in the region.
