Viking Hild is among the newest longships in Viking River Cruises fleet. The riverboat features innovative corridor configuration (patented design), modern engineering and technologies, signature Scandinavian-themed decor, premium stateroom amenities, itinerary-based and expert-led enrichment program, themed onboard entertainment, the efficiency of public spaces, the signature lounge Aquavit Terrace and numerous cabins with step-out balconies. Each of the Viking's longship-class riverboats also has two of the European river cruising industry's largest suites.

The boat (ENI number 7002058) is currently Switzerland-flagged (MMSI 269057586) and registered in Basel.

Viking Hild has a total of 95 cabins (of which 9 Suite, 22 French Balconies, 25 with a non-opening window) in 8 grades.

Shipboard facilities

Viking Hild dining options include Hild Restaurant (dining room) and Aquavit Terrace (al fresco). Other facilities include an Observation Lounge, Atrium (lobby), Library (Internet), Shop (gifts, souvenirs), top-deck (shaded relaxation area, Sky Bar, Herbal Garden, putting green, a walking track, shuffleboard). The Hild longship doesn't have a gym room, pool, jacuzzi, spa.

Viking Hild is one of the latest generation Viking Cruises longships. This is a new (patented) Viking river cruise boat design allowing bigger accommodations without the need to shrink public areas size and to compromise the vessel's general comfort.

On March 7, 2017, was the ship's naming ceremony, which was a typical for Viking “group christening” event. The ceremony was held in Koblenz Germany and also included the longship Viking Herja. The riverboat’s godmother is Princess Stephanie Lowenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg (Weingut Furst Lowenstein winery's CEO. The winery is located in Lower Franconia. The ceremonial bottle was Veuve Cliquot Champagne.
