Viking Ullur

Longship Viking Ullur boat is one of all 6 Viking River Cruises ships delivered in 2019. The other (2019-launched) sisterships are named Einar, Sigrun, Sigyn, Tir and Vali. The riverboat is named after Ullur - the God of the Hunt. According to Norse mythology, he is a stepson of Thor (the "hammer god" of thunder and storms) and famous for being a skilled archer and wily wizard.

The boat (ENI number 7002114) is currently Switzerland-flagged (MMSI 269057694) and registered in Basel.

These riverboats are deployed in Europe, on the rivers Rhine and Danube. Each of Viking Cruises longships features innovative corridor configuration (patented design), modern engineering and technologies, signature Scandinavian-themed decor, premium stateroom amenities, itinerary-based and expert-led enrichment program, themed onboard entertainment, efficiency of public spaces, Viking's signature lounge Aquavit Terrace, large number of balcony cabins (including 2 of the European river cruising industry's largest suites, each with separate bedroom and living room).

Cabins

Viking Ullur has a total of 95 cabins (of which 9 Suite, 22 French Balconies, 25 with a not-opening window) in 8 grades. Longship Ullur has two Explorer Suites featuring 270-degree scenery views and private wraparound balconies. The boat's 7 Veranda Suites are with two separate rooms - living room (with step-out balcony) and bedroom (with French Balcony). There are also 39 Veranda staterooms.

Shipboard facilities

Viking Ullur dining venues include Ullur Restaurant (dining room) and Aquavit Terrace (al fresco). The Aquavit Terrace (indoor-outdoor lounge) is located at the ship's bow. The Observation Lounge has floor-to-ceiling glass doors for panoramic views. The Sun Deck has sunbathing and shaded seating areas and offers 360-degree scenery views. Other facilities include an Atrium (lobby), Library (Internet), Shop (gifts, souvenirs), Sky Bar, Herbal Garden, putting green, walking track, shuffleboard. The longship doesn't have a gym room, swimming pool, jacuzzi, spa.

Viking Ullur cruise deals are inclusive of Internet (Wi-Fi), all tours/excursions, ground transfers, live evening entertainment, daily lecturers, food and wine tastings, 24-hour coffee/tea, replenished daily bottled water.

• "Rhine Getaway" is an 8-day itinerary between homeports Basel (Switzerland) and Amsterdam (Holland). The cruisetour visits 4 countries and offers 6 shore excursions. Prices start at ~EUR 1500 pp.
• "Danube Waltz" is an 8-day itinerary between homeports Budapest (Hungary) and Passau (Germany). The cruisetour visits 5 countries and offers 6 shore excursions. Prices start at ~EUR 1200 pp.
• "Passage to Eastern Europe" is an 11-day itinerary between homeports Bucharest (Romania) and Budapest (Hungary). The cruisetour visits 5 countries and offers 7 shore excursions. Prices start at ~EUR 23500 pp.

To/from Viking Ullur boat transfers and airport meet-and-greet services are included in the fares only when airfares are purchased through Viking Cruises.

In 2019, together with Ullur, Viking launched the longships Vali, Einar, Sigrun, Sigyn, Tir and Helgrim. The 7-ship "virtual" naming ceremony was via satellite connections and held on March 19, 2019, in four riverports - Basel Switzerland (Sigrun and Einar), Rostock Germany (Ullur and Sigyn), Brunsbuttel Germany (Vali and Tir) and Oporto Portugal (Helgrim). Ullur boat's godmother is Linh Banh (Viking executive manager).

Viking Ullur is one of the latest generation Viking Cruises longships. This is a new (patented) Viking river cruise boat design allowing bigger accommodations without the need to shrink public areas size and to compromise the vessel's general comfort. The Viking ship Ullur represents the company's latest Longship-class riverboat design. Viking Cruises longships feature energy-efficient hybrid engine technology, solar panels and interior design by "Yran & Storbraaten" (Norway). The patented "longship" design ("Rottet Studios", USA) allows much larger passenger accommodations with full-size balconies. The additional cabin space is created by 1 m (3,3 ft) off-centre shifting of the deck's corridor.
