On all RCI-Royal Caribbean vessels is offered the tour of the Galley (ship kitchen) called "Sip Tour Brunch" (fka Bottomless Galley Brunch). Royal Caribbean food = deliciously big money

The new main dining room menu is a result of a multi-million dollar investment by the RCI line. A big portion of this investment is for a larger staff and top-notch equipment on all ships in the fleet. RCI is also focusing on dining staff training with a chef certification program by the American Culinary Federation (ACF chefs) and also a new wait staff training program.

Royal Caribbean Menus - CruiseMapper

Royal Caribbean's new main focuses are freshest ingredients, modern preparation, a highly increased number of choices and dishes inspired by the local cuisine of the Royal Caribbean line's ports of call. Most of the provisions are from local (port) suppliers, with "signature" meals by region - Alaska (salmon), Asia (galangal), Europe/UK (mushrooms), etc. The "card of the day" allows passengers to enjoy a different food menu with a huge variety of appetizers, main-course entrees, salads, and desserts - and it's an everyday deal. royal Caribbean passengers can choose from a selection of 9 appetizers, 3 soups, 10 entrees and 7 desserts each day of their sailing.

  • An alternative to the "main" dining is the "Chef's Inspiration" menu. This option signifies a 3-course dining alternative with such suggestions, as Chilled Banana, Rum Soup, Roman Vignole Salad, or the bittersweet chocolate souffle with espresso sauce.
  • Another "alternative" is the "classics" menu. It offers dishes, like Escargots Bourguignonne, Royal Shrimp Cocktail, Manhattan Strip Steak, the classic Caesar Salad. And again - it's an everyday dining option.
  • Among the new "upgraded" dessert choices is the blueberry peach crumble, the butter pudding and the carrot cake.
  • The vegetarian dinner choices are this time really much more than a salad, steamed vegetables or some no-meat soup. Think of tortillas filled with grilled vegetables, artichoke-filled crepes with fontina, Greek vegetarian moussaka.
  • Among the new "healthy food" (low-fat/cal, gluten- and lactose-free) offerings is the gluten-free bread (available on request in all onboard dining venues, including in specialty restaurants).

Vegetarian and vegan shipboard dining options

For vegetarians and vegans, RCI offers plenty of dining options, that can be grouped as complimentary and specialty.

Complimentary food

Complimentary options include the following venues:

  • Lido Buffet (Windjammer Marketplace) - dishes like avocado toast, spaghetti marinara, soups, stir-fried vegetables (with rice or noodles), Indian food (dal, chana masala, paneer masala/ all served with rice and pita), sauteed vegetables, Thai curries, salads, oatmeal, fresh fruits, plant-based milk (for cereal and coffee), vegan desserts.
  • Main Dining Room's vegan menu for dinner always has 2x appetizers (Spring Onion Falafel, Corn Fritters, Zucchini Fritters, Zucchini Fritters, Avocado & Melon Salad, Raw Vegetable Salad, Rice Paper Rolls, Green Bean Croquette, Vegetable Tempura, Grilled Avocado, Polenta Fries, Ciabatta Salad, Grilled Peach & Panzanella Salad), 1x soup (Butternut Squash, Caramelized Parsnip & Coconut, Cherry Tomato Gazpacho, Tomato Soup, Creamed Broccoli Soup, Potato Soup, Tortilla Soup), 2x entrees (Edamame bean-stuffed Portobello Eggplant, Pan-Fried Asparagus, Penne Pasta, Grilled Eggplant, Vegan Risotto, Crunchy Tofu Tacos, Vegetable Pakoras, Orzo Pasta Stew, Butternut Squash Curry, Vegan Eggplant Burger, Vegan Carbonara, Fried Rice, Egg-free Omelet, Vegan Spaghetti Bolognese), 1x dessert (Chocolate Tahini Banana Soft Serve, Chocolate Chip Cookie, No-Bake Lemon Tart, Wild Berry Bar, Vegan Creme Brulee, Caramel Peanut Butter Rice Krispies, Toffee Cheesecake).   • Park Cafe (Oasis-class) and Two70 Cafe (Quantum-class) are also complimentary, open for breakfast and lunch, and both offer similar to the MDRs options (including a station dedicated to Create Your Own Salad out of vegetables, lettuce, legumes, starches, several dressings). At both cafes for breakfast are offered oatmeal, bagel station, sandwiches, wraps, pastries.
  • Solarium Bistro (Oasis-Quantum-class only) is also complimentary and there can be requested vegan and vegetarian dishes (salads, pita, falafel, baba ganoush, moussaka, grilled vegetables, desserts - baklava, Torta di Mele, Nocciola Chocolate).
  • At Sorrento's Pizzeria can be ordered custom-made pizzas with or without cheeses.
  • El Loco Fresh is a complimentary (pool deck) fast-food bar for Mexican specialties (custom-make tacos, cheese quesadillas, nachos).
  • Other complimentary onboard venues for vegetarian and vegan dining are Cafe Promenade, Vitality Cafe (wellness complex), Mini Bites (mini-sandwiches, fruits, veggie cups).

Specialty food/at a fee

At the following specialty dining venues can be ordered various veggie and vegan dishes.

  • Izumi Sushi & Hibachi (vegetable sushi roll, vegetarian hibachi/fried rice-egg-butter, fried rice with sauteed vegetables, udon noodles with tofu, edamame beans, ginger salad, mochi ice cream, Chinese fried sesame dessert balls).
  • Jamie's Italian or Giovanni's Italian are some of the best for vegetarians and vegans, both offering customized pasta and pizzas.
  • Playmakers Sports Bar (Impossible Burger, Fries, Pile-On Nachos, Jalapeno Poppers, Onion Ring Tower)
  • Johnny Rockets (Streamliner vegan burger, grilled cheese, fries, onion rings)
  • Mason Jar Brunch
  • Portside BBQ

ROOM SERVICE menus

Stateroom service is available 24 hours per day on all RCI ships, and complimentary is only the continental breakfast.

As of 2022, Royal Caribbean room service costs USD 7,95 per order/per cabin. This fee is fixed, regardless of how many items/dishes are ordered. The standard for Royal Caribbean 18% gratuity will be added to a total cost US$9,40. Personal tipping is not required but is recommended to give small cash to the room service staff.

Since 2017, Royal Caribbean charges for cruise ship room service a fee of USD 7,95 per order.

  • The offering is from the "All Day Menu" and also from the room service breakfast menu's "American Breakfast" section (background colored).
  • Ordering "Continental Breakfast" menu items remain complimentary (free of charge).
  • RCI started room service charging after March 27, 2017. The new policy was implemented fleetwide by the end of May 2017.
  • For passengers booked in Suites (categories "Grand Suite" and above), the room service (regardless of menus) is complimentary.

Order as much as you want via the stateroom's interactive TV system or call Room Service for "All Day Menu" orders. Breakfast room service (in-cabin food and drinks delivery) is available each day of the cruise (except departure mornings) between 11 am and 6 am.

Order forms are provided in the cabin. To order an in-cabin breakfast, you'll have to fill out the order form and place it on the door handle outside your cabin prior to 3 am. Contact your Stateroom Attendant for additional order forms. Remember that late-night service charges are applied for light snacks.

  • Since December 2016, RCI's room service menu includes a mix of Continental (free), American Breakfast and a la carte breakfast items, as well as sample dishes from specialty restaurants onboard, which passengers pay for. Complimentary starters, entrees, sandwiches, and desserts are offered around the clock.
  • Pinnacle Suite and Neptune Suite guests don't have to pay for the a la carte breakfast and specialty beverages.
  • Among the specialty restaurants that are included in the menu are Pinnacle Grill, Tamarind, Dive-In Burgers. From the Tamarind menu, diners are free to choose between a Seafood, Vegetarian or "Land and Sea" bento box at USD 9.75 per piece. Dive In pampers with various burgers served with fries, and each costs USD 4.95. On the Pinnacle Grill menu, a steak dish is purchased for USD 15 and lobster for USD 20.
  • Until the March 2017 introduced American Breakfast (at-fee) menu, sample complimentary option was a scrambled egg dish coming with hash browns and breakfast meats. Not anymore.
  • Other dishes that still cost money include steak and eggs (USD 9.50), smoked salmon benedict (USD 7.50), and fruit smoothies with Greek yogurt (USD 4.95).
  • A kids' menu also offers chicken tenders, mac-and-cheese, peanut butter, and jelly, as well as other snacks free of charge.

  • "Chops Grille" ($30 PP service charge) - premium steaks and best seafood choices.
  • "Portofino" ($20 PP charge) - Italian menu with signature European classic favorites.
  • "Chef's Table" ($95 PP, 12-16 guests capacity, depending on ship) - a five-course "gourmet dining tour" (wine is included, but wine selection varies by ship). Available on all Oasis-class ships, also on Radiance and Splendor, you can make reservations on board (based on availability).

NEW MDR menus (2023)

In Nov-Dec 2022, RCI started testing new MDR menus on Symphony OTS. As most of the passengers' feedbacks were positive, in early January was announced that the new menus will permanently replace the old ones and be implemented fleetwide by February 2023.

The primary reason for the menu changes was cited the shortened dinner service time (~1 hour, compared to the 1,2-2 hours prior to the menu changes).

The new MDR menus are themed as Welcome Aboard (first night/DAY 1), French Night (DAY 2), Italian Night (DAY 3), Mediterranean Night (DAY 4), Caribbean Night (DAY 5), Mexican Night (DAY 6), The Royal Night (DAY 7) plus the Kids' Menu (not changing and offered every night of the voyage).

While there is no separate VEGAN menu (with plant-based dishes), each night's menu always includes vegan and no-sugar-added dishes.

Portside BBQ is RCI's first a-la-carte-priced barbecue restaurant. Its menu is based on Texas Beef brisket, spare ribs, pulled pork, chicken wings, turkey legs, sausage links, signature sides - like homesteader cornbread, homemade Mac-and-Cheese, baked beans, fries, coleslaw, corn on the cob.

Four BBQ sauces (complimentary) are available at the tables. BBQ combos cost $12,50 (2 types of meat) and $15,40 (3 types of meat).

Portside BBQ has 3 different menus (lunch, dinner, late-night). Know that all menu items are in limited quantities, so some could be quickly sold out. The meats are slow cooked (in small batches throughout the day) and smoked at the restaurant - in combi ovens, also using Hickory wood chips.

Portside BBQ is a specialty restaurant first introduced on Oasis OTS (2019 Nov) and Allure OTS (2020 May).

This is a casual, surcharge restaurant serving Italian fare for Lunch (sea days only) and Dinner.

The restaurant is via a partnership with the British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver. The menu offers handmade dishes from authentic recipes and prepared with seasonal (locally sourced) ingredients.

As an appetizer, you can always order antipasti planks (cured meats, pickles, cheeses, pumpkin panzerotti, Chilli prawn linguine).

As of 2023, the dinner surcharge (per person) is US$55, lunch costs US$25 pp.

RCI's Japanese specialty restaurant Izumi is on nearly all boats and with individually priced menu items. However, there is an alternative (pre-fixed menu) option to pay one price for a 3-course/combo meal - 1x small plate (soup or dumplings), 2x large plates (rolls, sushi, sashimi, ramen, etc) plus 1x dessert. In 2022, the Izumi food package cost US$35 (per adult) and US$11 (per child 6-12 yo/kids ages 0-5 dine for free)

The "Sushi & Sake" lunch package is alcohol-inclusive.

Royal Caribbean Dynamic Dining

Royal Caribbean Quantum of the Seas is completely changing the way dinner is served on board. The innovative new dining concept is revolutionizing cruise dining experience.

Dynamic Dining basics are simple: there are no more main dining rooms, no formal nights and no set times to eat. Instead, passengers get 5 complimentary restaurants like Chick, Silk, American Icon Grill, and 13 specialty restaurants (Wonderland, Michael's Genuine Pub, Jamie's Italian), they can choose from. Dynamic Dining gives guests flexibility, new dining options, and choices with less formality as each night, they pick the restaurant and time to eat dinner.

While formal nights were removed, guests can still get a formal night experience in The Grande Restaurant, where every night is formal night. And to help to pick restaurants, Royal Caribbean developed an app allowing travelers to pick where and when they want to eat, as well as alerting them when the reservation time or restaurant conflicts with their agenda - alternatives are suggested.

Starbucks Coffee Bar menu with prices

Starbucks Bars are available only on select RCI liners. This specialty coffee bar can be found on all Oasis-class ships (Allure, Oasis, Harmony, Symphony) as a fully functioning venue. Mariner OTS, Navigator OTS and Grandeur OTS have each a Starbucks kiosk located in the Atrium area on Deck 4 (Mariner, Navigator) and Deck 6 (Grandeur).

Royal Caribbean's Starbucks bars provide products and services similar to the coffee brand's land-based venues. Prices are also similar. All beverages can be paid via the Starbucks mobile app, via Starbucks gift cards (only on ships with a kiosk) or charged to passenger's onboard account (SeaPass). Shipboard Starbucks purchases are eligible to earn rewards, but those can be redeemed only on land-based stores.

Crown and Anchor Society members (loyalty program) are eligible to discount-priced and complimentary beverages during the voyage. Diamond and above (Diamond Plus, Pinnacle) members get free lounge drinks in the evenings (5 - 8:30 pm) during the so-called "Diamond Happy Hour".

Free drinks include vodka, rum, tequila, gin, whiskey, port wine, vermouth, liqueurs, beers, soda, bottled water. Frozen drinks and cocktails cost extra.

By the year 2024, RCI's parent company RCG (Royal Caribbean Group) will implement a series of requirements for its global fleet's poultry providers. The announcement was made in May 2018, in regards to corporation's animal food sourcing fleetwide. The program relates to how chickens are bred, raised and processed. Since May 2018, RCG also uses fleetwide only cage-free eggs and gestation stall-free pork.

By 2024, for all its USA-based ships, Royal Caribbean will purchase poultry only from GAP-certified producers and dealers. RCG will require chickens to be slaughtered and processed in a manner that doesn't involve live dumping and shackling, thus eliminating conscious throat-slitting and scalding.
